Q 4. What is the minimum configuration required for a computer
system to use TTABLE?

4. The basic configuration required is a PENTIUM and are saving lot
of time in making and modifying TimeTable and in rearrangement of absent
teachers' classes. TTABLE can also be installed on Windows and can be run
as any other DOS application
Q 5. What is additional licence fee payable for the upgrades?

5. Only nominal additional licence fee is payable for the Upgrades,
depending upon the version already procured.
Q 6. What is the basic computer knowledge required before using
TTABLE?

6. Only simple knowledge of familiarity with keyboard operation is
required.
Q 7. What is the media in which the package is available?

7. `TTABLE' is available on a CD. The package consists of 1 (one) CD and 1
(one) Parallel Port Hardware Lock.
Q 8. How much free disk-space is required?

8. TTABLE requires a free Disk space of 10 megabytes. 15 megabytes is
recommended.
Q 9. Which Version of DOS must be installed on the computer system?

9. MSDOS Version 3.3 or higher must be installed.
Q 10. Can it be run under windows?

10. TTABLE can be run under WINDOWS as DOS application software.
Under Windows95 environment, the system must be Restarted in the MSDOS Mode
before running TTABLE. This is necessary only if a key diskette is used. In
case of package procured with a Hardware Lock, it is not necessary to
restart the computer in MSDOS mode. It can be invoked from the MSDOS prompt
within windows.

Q 12. How many TimeTables can be made?

12. Any number of TimeTable files can be made with independent set-up
parameters i.e. number of days, number of periods/day and recesses.
Q 13. How much time is required to make TimeTable using TTABLE?
A
13. On a Pentium, it takes, on an average, a minute for data entry
for each teacher's Weekly Workload Table or Distribution Table. An
allocation takes about 10 seconds per distribution table per round
depending upon the complexity of the allocations and the load per teacher
Q 14. How convenient is the Data Entry?

14. Data for one teacher is filled in one screen indicating all the
combinations. A maximum of 20 classes/groups of Classes may be defined in
one weekly work load.
Q 15. Can an existing TimeTable be entered?

15. Yes. Existing Time-table can be conveniently entered. Thus the
rearrangement can be done immediately thereafter. A real time saver is that
It has on-line check for double allocation clashes for teachers, classes,
labs and rooms. As soon as an allocation is entered, where there is a
clash, it immediately indicates with whom the clash is.
Q 16. Is there a provision for part-time teachers?

16. Yes. A teacher can be shown available only for specific periods. In
other words, he can be shown to be not available for some periods. Such
allocations can be marked FREE. Unless vacated by user, TTABLE does not
replace an allocation of its own.

teachers?

17. 16 different sections of same or different classes can be combined and
attended to by 16 teachers simultaneously and very conveniently.

Q 20. What preparation is needed before making Time-Table with
TTABLE?
A 20. The following information should be chalked out before proceeding to
prepare TimeTable through TTABLE:
- Parameters for TimeTable i.e.
No. of days/ week, No. of periods/day, Period labels e.g. 0 to 9 or 1
to 10, Position of 1, 2 or 3 recesses.
- Names of all teachers and
their short Names up to 4 characters and indication of the subject
for the purpose of departmental meetings.
- Day and the period no. for
departmental meetings - department-wise.
- Class, which the teacher
is in charge of, for each teacher.
- Classes, Subjects, No. of
periods assigned to each teacher in a week.
- Parallel Teachers for
elective subjects, SUPW etc.
- Classes to be attended to
together (Common or Combined Classes)
- Consecutive Periods.
- List of all subjects and
their codes up to 4 characters for all classes.
- Preferences for specific
teachers, lab periods, single periods, free periods.
- Limitations or specific
requirements in regard to allocations.
Q 21. Can teachers for one subject be kept free in one period for
the purpose of weekly meetings?

21. Yes. There is a provision to indicate the department during data entry.
Based on the department indicated, the concerned teacher is marked FREE in
the relevant period.
Q 22. Can TTABLE show Teacher and Class TimeTable at the same time
on the screen?

22. Yes, It shows TimeTable for a teacher on the upper half and that for
the corresponding class in the lower half. This is the most convenient
procedure for modifications.
Q 23. What information is shown in the TimeTable printouts?

23 TimeTable shows the Class(es) and the subject in case of a
Teacher, Teacher and subject in case of a Class and the Teacher and
the class in case of a Lab. or a Room on each day and each period.
Q 24. Can one make notes on computer while making TimeTable?

24. TTABLE is provided with an on-line notebook, which is a simple Word
processor.
Q 25. Can one indicate the number of days the school is open, number
of periods in a day, the day and period for assembly and the number and the
position of recesses?

25. Yes. All these are defined in the SETUP before proceeding to make
timetable.
Q 26. Can the teachers be kept free on a given day and period for
departmental meetings?

26. Yes. A maximum of 30 departmental meetings may be defined on a DAY and
a PERIOD. More than one meeting may be defined for a department.
Q 27. Can a teacher be marked so that no substitution period is
given to him/her?

27. Yes. A teacher can be marked BUSY for during the rearrangement option,
so that no extra periods are reallocated to him/her.
Q 28. Can a limit be set for maximum substitution periods?

28. Yes. One can specify the maximum number of periods to be allocated to a
teacher including the reallocated (rearrangement) periods for the week.
Q 29. Can a class teacher be given first period automatically?
A
29. Yes. If a teacher is shown as in-charge of a class, it is possible to
automatically allocate the first or for that matter any period to that
teacher.
Q 30. Do we have to enter the workload of teachers for the new
session all over again?

30. No. The existing TimeTable file can be copied to a new file. The
workload in the new file may be modified as desired for the next session
before making Time-Table.
Q 31. What is the latest package available?
A
31. The latest package shipped today is TTABLE 9.8.7, released in July
2006.
Q 32. Can TTABLE link Time Table File from earler Version?
A
32. Yes. TTABLE can import Version 8.x Time Table File automatically.
However, the Time Table files from previous version have to be updated with
the help of the next higher version up to version 8, thereafter, the
present version will take over.
Q 33. How is TTABLE shipped?

33. TTABLE package consists of a system CD, a Parallel Port Hardware Lock
and a detailed User's Guide.
Q 34. What is the warranty period?
A
34. The Media carries a warranty of 90 days. Thereafter, the key disk and
the system disks or CD, will be replaced on payment of nominal charges.
Q 35. When are the revisions/upgrades likely?
A 35. Normally the next higher version (Upgrade) is brought out in about a
year. There may be couple of revisions for each version. Significant
